BALLET

Ballet is a widespread, highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology. It has been globally influential and has defined the foundational techniques used in many other dance genres. Lessons can provide students with balance, poise, discipline, musicality and co-ordination with students starting at the age of 2 with a Parent & Toddler class. We hold examinations from Primary up with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.

MODERN

Modern is a theatrical dance style that incorporates street dance style with the discipline of classical ballet. Students will learn a combination of jazz, lyrical and isolation movements to the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance syllabus. Students can start at the age of 6 and examinations can be taken from Grade 1.

TAP

Tap classes start with Primary at age 4 studying the ISTD syllabus. This is a percussive style characterized by rhythmical tapping of he toes and heels.  A great way to develop musicality whilst having fun.

We have an Adult Tap class that learns a vast array of steps and incorporates them into a different dance each term and they also take part in the Tapathon (along with the children) which is a Nationwide run event in aid of Children in Need.

STREET DANCE

Street jazz dance emerged from an amalgamation of modern dance styles and was inspired by traditional dance performed outside of professional studios.

It has several forms: hip hop, jazz dance, broadway dance, breakdancing and contemporary dance. Our classes hope to include as much of these styles as possible while giving the students freedom to express their own style and choreography.

CONTEMPORARY

This is an expressive dance style that originally borrowed from many different dance genres including classical, modern and jazz. It combines the strong, but controlled legwork of ballet with contract-release, fall and recovery and improvisation from modern.  It also incorporates unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction. Lessons, which can be taken from age 8 years, are structured to learn contemporary technique as well as allowing time for freedom of expression.

MUSICAL THEATRE/DRAMA

Musical theatre is a form of performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance.  Drama is a great way of building confidence through games and learning scripts. If they wish the students can be entered for LAMDA Musical Theatre or Drama examinations.

ACROBATIC DANCE

A style of dance combining ballet, jazz, modern and lyrical dance technique with acrobatic elements. Acro shows smooth, graceful transitions between the dance and acrobatic movements and has a much higher percentage of dance than gymnastics.  A variety of 'tricks' are used, building in complexity and skill either as a solo dancer or in groups.  Lessons can be taken from age 7.

HEN PARTY & WEDDING DANCES

Hen Party - If you are looking for something to liven up a Hen Party we can teach dances to suit all styles or themes; be it Abba, Burlesque, Charleston, Can-Can or dances to the Bride's favourite band/singer.  Classes can be at either your venue, or we can hire a studio.

First wedding dances - a first dance can be nerve-wracking, especially if your or your partner have no dance training, so let us help you through it.  Traditional or something different just let us know the song and we'll do the rest.
